I like Barrack Obama (I think he did the best in today's debate, what I saw of it) but I honestly am more for having a highly qualified, experienced president than electing a symbol, which Obama definitely is than the former. I think after enduring President Bush we'd learn to want to have someone who doesn't have to rely so much on advisors, or who will need so much on the job training as Bush did in comparison to much more qualified candidates at the time like Gore and McCain. According to Obama, years of gaining understanding of foreign affairs and learning the inner workings of Washington doesn't serve a president as much as...what? Not knowing as much? I'm sorry, but you can have all the passion and idealism but in order to change Washington you really still need to know what you're doing, same goes for charting a better foreign policy, and everything else. There are people like Biden and Dodd who have been around a long time, and who are not corrupt. They've been around, they've seen a lot and they've learned a lot, and know exactly how to improve things, but have just lacked the power to make change. Of course these capable people (who have now both dropped out of the race) sadly can't win a popularity contest or get the amount of funds and backing, so we get stuck with people who are so much better at winning elections than actually running the country, and like with Bush, we can really pay for it.

| What Rena Means | You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something. You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense. You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.
You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone. You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together. At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.
You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people. You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts. You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.
You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection. You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive. You have the classic "Type A" personality. |

| You Are An ENFP | The Inspirer
You love being around people, and you are deeply committed to your friends. You are also unconventional, irreverent, and unimpressed by authority and rules. Incredibly perceptive, you can usually sense if someone has hidden motives. You use lots of colorful language and expressions. You're quite the storyteller!
In love, you are quite the charmer. And you are definitely willing to risk your heart. You often don't follow through with your flirting or professed feelings. And you do break a lot of hearts.
At work, you are driven but not a workaholic. You just always seem to enjoy what you do. You would make an excellent entrepreneur, politician, or journalist.
How you see yourself: compassionate, unselfish, and understanding
When other people don't get you, they see you as: gushy, emotional, and unfocused |
A lot of questions in this one!
October 8th, 200702:07 pm: A fanfic meme!
What fanfic writer would you most like to have script from your plots? Umm... too many! What fanfic writer has (in your opinion) the most unique style? Jeff Melton, Meriades Rai or maybe Mike Rasbury. What fanfic writer in your opinion writes the best Spider-man- Meriades Rai Avengers- Derrick Ferguson X-Men- Thomas Moses Fantastic Four- David Ellis (tho I'm really digging Josh Reynolds' current run @ AV2K. It's just fun!) Hulk – Derrick Ferguson (@ MO and in Avengers @ AV) If you were creating your own brand new fanfic site, what would you name it? Either Tales of Suspense, or Marvel Paradox Recent (perhaps overlooked) fanfic you would recommend? Jason MacDonald's first issue of Ghost Rider @ Altered Visions, and his Metalscream stories @ 2099 UGR. Fanfic that has been recently added to your list of Must Reads? David Golightly's Iron Man @ Marvel Reborn, Meriades Rai's Ultimate Defenders, Ultimate Spider-Man, and Marvel Team-Up all @ M2K. Fanfic series you wish would come out more often? Chris Munn's Avengers Immortal @ M2K is the first to come to my mind. Fanfic series you would like to see? Illuminati by Barry Reese (the AV2K version) Invaders by (either Barry, Derrick, Chris or Meri would be so great) Blade 2211 by David Ellis Supervillain War II, or a regular ongoing Alliance series starring among others, Trapster and Whirlwind @ AV2k, by Steve Seinberg and Meriades Rai And since this is fantasy, how about a mini series (maybe with the X-Men or Spider-Man) that is co-written by Dino Pollard, Mick Edwards and David Golightly.
September 4th, 200702:14 pm: For those who watch Heroes...
Tim Kring has put this website up about Takezo Kensei. http://www.yamagatofellowship.org/Also big news about Doctor Who. The show will not be returning for a fifth series until 2010 (the fourth series premieres in 2008). It was postponed to allow Tennant to play Hamlet with the Royal Shakespeare Company late next year. A spokesperson for the show said it was too early to comment on whether or not Tennant would return for a fifth series.

| Your Superpower Should Be Super Speed | You're quick witted and fast to act. You're mind works at warp speed. From your perspective, everyone else is living in slow motion. You get so much done, people have accused you of not sleeping. Definitely not a couch potato, you feel a bit crazy if you're not busy doing something.
Why you would be a good superhero: You're be the first on the scene... and likely to finish the job before anyone else shows up
Your biggest problem as a superhero: Being bored by everyone else. Including other superheroes! |
Yeah I'm fast. Fast at doing nothing.

May 28th, 200709:09 am: Hehe, okay I like these results
| People Envy Your Compassion | You have a kind heart and an unusual empathy for all living creatures. You tend to absorb others' happiness and pain. People envy your compassion, and more importantly, the connections it helps you build. And compassionate as you are, you feel for them. |
| You Are Most Like Heidi Klum | Girl next door vibe with top model looks |
Your Score: Myrna LoyYou scored 26% grit, 14% wit, 28% flair, and 42% class! You are class itself, the calm, confident "perfect woman." Men turn and look at you admiringly as you walk down the street, and even your rivals have a grudging respect for you. You always know the right thing to say, do and, of course, wear. You can take charge of a situation when things get out of hand, and you're a great help to your partner even if they don't immediately see or know it. You are one classy dame. Your screen partners include William Powell and Cary Grant, you little simmerpot, you.
Find out what kind of classic leading man you'd make by taking the Classic Leading Man Test. Should I be a little ashamed that I don't really know who Myrna Loy is?

You are good at getting out of tight situations, however, you're not quite as good at simple, practical things like making lunches. | You Are 76% Tortured Genius | You are smart. Brilliant in fact. And while it's a blessing, it's also a curse. Your head is filled with everything - grand ideas, insufferable worries, and a good deal of angst. |
I always answer meme questions as accurately as I can, yet the results are always so off. Like I might be a little tortured, but I'm definitely no genius of any kind! I'm a Honda S2000!

You live on the edge, and you live for the adrenaline rush. You don't need luxuries, snob appeal, or superfluous gadgets. You put your top down, get your motor revving, and take all the curves that life throws at you at full speed. So what if you spin out occasionally?
And I don't live on the edge; I'm not an adrenaline junkie. I like luxuries very much, and I would never put my top down! lol.

Two stolen memes, from Derrick! | You Are Not Destined to Rule the World | You are destined for something else... Like inventing a new type of cupcake. You just don't have the stomach for brutality. But watch out - because many people do! |
I always thought I had a bit of a Doctor Doom complex. Guess not. 1. What's The Longest Time You've Spent Standing? During one of my school's walkathons probably that take all day. 2. How Many People On LJ (or your blog) Know Your Real Name? One or two? 3. What Makes You Afraid? The very thought of parachuting out of a plane When I'm walking alone and I think someone might be following me That a loved one might die (including a pet) 4. What's The Worst Physical Injury You've Ever Had? I injured my neck a few years ago when someone hit the back of our car. Once in awhile if I sleep wrong on my pillow it seems like I can reinjure it and its almost as bad for a day or so, which thankfully hasn’t happened in awhile 5. What Line Won't You Cross? My morals are probably the same as the average person's, like if people leave the keys in their car it's okay to steal it, right?
January 24th, 200702:19 pm: Two Memes
I've only been on Live Journal for a few months and already I'm tired of doing memes, but oh well. My first entry of 2007 is not one, but two stolen memes! Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, find line 4. Write down what it says. "It would be foolish to argue about which of these views is correct as it would be to argue algebra or geometry is the correct way to solve problems in science." (From Tim Flannery's The Weather Makers) Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What do you touch first? My half empty teacup. What is the last thing you watched on TV? A cable news station. What is the last song you listened to? "Out of my Head" by Mobile WITHOUT LOOKING, guess what time it is. 1:30 Now look at the clock, what is the actual time? 1:25 With the exception of the computer, what can you hear? People talking, distracting me. The computer also is making a humming sound, but oh right, you didn't want to know about that. When did you last step outside? What were you doing? I was getting out of the car and walking inside. Before you came to this website, what did you look at? The Drudge Report. Meme #2 1) Using your Current Initials, choose a different name for yourself: Rachel Macendale. Ohh I like that name. I feel like riding a goblin glider! 2) If you were born outside of your era, when would you want to be born? Around the time of the Crucifixion so I can see if He really rose from the dead and all that. Or far in the future when mankind has evolved into an enlightened species and earth is a utopia. If I had a time machine either way I suspect I would be sadly disappointed in both cases. 3) If you ran a store, what would you sell/have? Clothes 4) What part in a movie would you love to play? The daughter of Indiana Jones, who the franchise shifts to after Harrison Ford's hip replacement. 5) In your opinion, why do people suck? Cuz they're stupid, shallow, unthinking...wait, that's me. 6) If you had your own state, what would you put on your new quarter? The masked face of Doctor Doom, cuz I'd rule my state like he does Latveria! 7) What's the oldest article of clothing you own? A pair of old Jazz shoes from when I was 13 or 14. 8) What piece of furniture have you replaced the most? I dunno. I let other people do that. The little people. 9) What instrument do you wish you could play? Guitar 10) Record, Tape or CD? CD I guess 11) What do you think is the most over-rated candy ever? Probably Smarties. Especially the red ones. 12) If you could only debate two topics the rest of your life, what would they be? Politics makes me sad too much, so religion (which should make me sadder) and comic books. 13) Out of your friends, who would you say you are most jealous of, artistically? Artistically? It would have to be some of my online acquaintences, any of whom I wish I could write as well as 14) Most jealous of intellectually? None, most of my friends irl are dumb lol. 15) What do you do when you're home sick? Click my ruby slippers together. Actually I've rarely ever been home sick; I've rarely been anywhere for that long. 16) Current Favorite Article of Clothing? Something I got for Christmas 17) Line from the last thing you wrote for someone? Extra strength Tylenol (added to the grocery list) 18) A famous person you have met? Rob Lowe 19) Favorite way to waste time? This is one 20) Last thing you bought yourself? Lunch
December 31st, 200603:01 pm: My own Fanfic of the Year
Stolen from wyzeguy My favorite story this year (of my own): I don't have one. If I had to name something it would be the yet-to-be-released Agent 13 #1 @ Altered Visions, which was actually the first complete short story I'd written since junior high. Even though when I first sent it to Doug all the quotation marks had disappeared from the dialogue for some strange reason, he liked it, and so has everybody else whom I later asked to look it over, including Tony Thornley and Thomas Moses. My best story this year: I haven't written many complete stories. Other than the first story arc for Agent 13 I suppose my most successful effort was Defenders #12, originally written as a fill-in issue for that series. Doug liked how I handled the characters and told me it needed very little editing. Steve Paul also said it was quite good, the only thing off being my characterization of Maverick, who I don't know very well. The only other thing I can think of is a beginning of a Peace Machine 2211 story I wrote that David Ellis and Jason MacDonald really seemed pleased with. Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Not sure. Maybe one of my scatterbrained writings I've sent to David Ellis that I might have been delusionally half proud of? I don't know. Story I kind of wish I'd never written: Sometimes all of them. There are moments I feel I'm wasting my time trying to improve myself as a writer cuz I most certainly have a LONG way to go and A LOT to learn. I'd possibly be more inspired if the fanfic community wasn't filled with so many very talented and capable writers. Most days I don't let that bother me though and as Doug once said, there's always room for growth for everyone and the community is all about helping out each other. I am really grateful, most especially to Doug and David for their encouragement and continual feedback. I've already gained quite a bit from it and hopefully I'll improve a lot further in the next year or two. Most fun story: Hmm, probably when I got to write Jim Hammond, the original Human Torch in Agent 13 #2. It's the first time I ever wrote a Marvel superhero before and although I didn't nail him as perfectly as I wanted to, it was still fun. Most sexy story: I don't think I've written anything so far that would qualify at all as a sexy story lol. The only thing remotely, maybe, is the Agent 13 story I was going to contribute to the aborted Altered Visions 2006 Summer Special one-shot. David gave me the plot and I scripted it. Basically Sharon and this obnoxious SHIELD agent pose as a couple while they conduct surveillance on an arms dealer. Story with single sexiest moment: I guess the aforementioned Summer Special story. Story with single sweetest moment: Maybe the Hulk 2211 one-shot that I am writing now. Most unintentionally *telling* story: Other than letting everyone know I'm a newbie writer I don't know how telling any have been about me so far. I haven't written enough yet that I've had to really draw on my own life experiences at any point. Not that I can recall. "Holy crap, that's *wrong*, even for you" story: Well I have written some stuff I have barely thought out at all and then showed them to David when maybe I shouldn't have, although I feel comfortable enough with him that I can do that, which is nice and sometimes that's turned out well. An awful Avengers 2211 piece led to a fairly decent Peace Machine 2211 story for instance. Hardest story to write: Definitely what I'm working on now, Hulk 2211. I have a story of mystery and suspense to tell, a cast of original characters to bring to life and a very low number of words allowed me to do it. Easiest story to write: There's a lot of free flowing stuff that I've written that has been very easy, almost too easy to write, such as Defenders #12. I had it done in a week, what felt like only two or three hours work altogether. The Summer Special story, a better story I think, I wrote in just a day or two. This year's theme and the story that demonstrates it most: This doesn't apply to me. I wish I was that sophisticated.
December 19th, 200610:42 pm: Fanfic of the Year
I don't usually write reviews cuz I don't think I can evaluate other people's work as intelligently and knowledgably as most everyone else. I'm not a very skilled or seasoned writer. Since this year I officially joined the fanfic writing community however I thought I'd try doing an end of the year kind of thing. Best Ongoing Series: Fantastic Four 2099UGR by David Ellis. Even though this is not the real FF and 2099 is a part of the Marvel Universe that I am probably the least familiar with, FF 2099UGR is flat out the best FF series I've ever read. So amazing it actually moved me to write my first fan letter to a fanfic author. Hehee, and David has heard from me a few times since. Best First Issue: Avengers Regeneration #1 by Meriades Rai. Meri is a brilliant writer, one of the best ever. A great storyteller, his prose especially is nothing short of incredible. While this series was a little disappointing, only cuz I never warmed to most of the characters, the first issue totally blew me away. Best Team Series: This is a two-way tie between Avengers at Altered Visions by Derrick Ferguson and Avengers Immortal at M2K by Chris Munn. Derrick's Avengers has a classic feel, old school, but not in a lame way. It's just perfect to my tastes. I feel much the same way about Chris's Avengers Immortal. I feel like I'm reading an old comic by Roger Stern or Walt Simonson, someone who is a very talented writer and as importantly knows/loves the characters and the universe they live in. One other thing about Immortal, I might be the only one who has never read Avengers Forever, so a time plucked Avengers team to me has a very fresh feel to it, more than it might for other people. Best Solo Series: Barry Reese's Iron Man at M2K. Talk about someone who has a masterful grasp of the Marvel Universe and seems to know it inside and out. It's been said before that while others find continuity too dense that they hardly bother with it, Barry can do wonders with all this enormous amount of story material. Couple that with him probably being the most natural storyteller, I find myself reading everything he writes. In the case of Iron Man, the character and the series could not be in better hands. Best Mini Series: Supervillain War at Av2K by Meriades Rai. This was excellently hyped on Meri's LJ for weeks leading up to the first issue and I so looked forward to it. Low and behold it is every bit as great as I hoped. As I said before once it's all completed I think it will be a masterpiece. Best One-shot: Metalscream 2099 UGR by Jason MacDonald. Easy choice here. Weird, different and very cool, with concepts such as the Bone Machine it's like nothing I've read before. Litany is a fun protagonist. If I knew some techomantic mind control spells I'd make Jason turn this into an ongoing series. You can read it here http://members.tripod.com/wyzeguy79/2099un_09.htmlBest Anthology series: A two way tie between THE HAUNT OF HORROR at Strange Tales and UGR Unlimited at 2099UGR. I read the first issue of Haunt of Horror on the weekend and was very impressed. I really liked in particular the Solomon Kane/Paracelsus story and the Conan the Barbarian story by Josh Reynolds. The Modred story was very good too by Chris Munn, but I'm sure I read it before. Were all these stories hosted on another site at one time? I really like the format, having multiple stories in one package. As for UGR Unlimited, there are great two stories of Metalscream, three for Blade 2099 (who David Ellis makes me like more than original Blade!) a Hand 2099 story also by David, as well as other futuristic tales by writers like David Golightly and Bowie Sessions. Best Villain: A lot of good ones have been written well in various series by various writers, too many to mention. The two that really made an impression on me are Hikaru in 2099UGR (who is not really a villain, but close enough) and the other is someone I'm not all that familiar with, but his build up and few scenes I really liked: Fu Manchu from Thomas Deja's Iron Man series at Av2K. How Fu Manchu was introduced, his scenes with Tony Stark and how he said he would someday teach Dr. Doom patience was good stuff, and to me convincing. Best Hero: Two-way tie between Blade 2099 and Iron Man at M2K. Best Fanfic site: Before I open the envelope I have to first say I'm on the writing staff at Altered Visions and I will tell one and all it's a very fine site Doug Bookey runs. Some notable titles besides Derrick's Avengers is Uncanny X-Men by Thomas Moses, Wolverine by Dino Pollard and Slingers by John Bush. Everyone should look forward to a slew of potentially great new titles in the coming year and a big story event. I've also mentioned 2099 Underground Revised a lot, another awesome site that I've so enjoyed and that has inspired me and continues to so much, but I'm kinda on the writing staff there too. So what will I impartially award best fan fiction site? Avengers 2000! While there are good sites, great sites like MO and M2K that I frequent fairly regularly, I really love the Av2K site. It's like the big fat gray lady, the New York Times, so thick and heavy with so much content and all those imprints, including Pendragons! Right now its putting out two big minis that are must reads for me, SVW and Armageddon by Barry Reese, and I just seem to read a lot more of their releases overall than I do other sites. With Derrick Ferguson as the new EIC I can only expect things will get better. The only criticism I have is the lack so far of Armageddon tie-in issues.
